Stella McCartney to Launch Organic Skin Care Line
Stella McCartney is launching a skin care range.
The designer daughter of Sir Paul McCartney decided to create her Care line in response to the lack of organic beauty products in the industry.
"I just don't think that there is a great deal of luxury, organic product out there and I've found that quite frustrating."
McCartney also told the International Herald Tribune: "I don’t see why the luxury element in a skincare line needs to be compromised in order for the organic element to be fully present."
"The main thing is to have integrity and honest products."
The Care skincare range will be available in the UK from June in selected stores.

Ed Hardy to open shop in SoHo
THE ink is barely dry on a new lease in SoHo for the vintage tattoo wear shop, Ed Hardy.
The new flagship city location at 49 Mercer, between Grand and Broome streets, will have 3,000 feet on the ground along with a 2,500-foot selling basement. The asking rent for the ground was $120 a foot and the deal was made close to that number.
The Los Angeles-based retailer is the brainchild of Christian Audigier, who previously put Von Dutch on the map.
The designs are based on those by tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy and favored by celebs such as Ludacris and Madonna.
A small shop is already open on W. 13th Street in the Meatpacking District and others can be found around the world, with many located in Asia.
Peter Brause and Barry Sanet of Sierra Realty represented building owner DL Mercer and also found the tenant.
"They are doing great numbers in Meatpacking and think they will really blow it out in SoHo," said Brause.
The hot street has Vivienne Tam coming to the corner in the Andre Balasz-owned building at 40 Mercer St., while Australian boot maker Ugg has a small store nearby at 79 Mercer St. Also, retailer Scoop just opened in a major retail space that extends from Broadway to Mercer.
"That block is happening," said Brause.

Fielder-Civil popped the question after an alcohol-fuelled night out in London earlier this week and Winehouse took her time to think it over before she accepted.

Kate's rock chick designs are revealed
and they're coming to NYC May 8th

The moment Kate Moss followers have been waiting for has nearly arrived, as the first images of the supermodel's fashion range are released. Fans will be able to snap up a piece of her edgy style for as little as $24 when the designs go on sale at High Street chain Topshop on May 1."With this collection I can do what I have always wanted to do with clothes," says the Croydon-born beauty. "You know, you find a dress, but you want it shorter, or tighter, or sexier… I have been a model for so long that I know when something does or doesn't look right," she told Vogue, which placed on the cover of the May issue in one of her $120, self-designed dresses.Kate, who was inspired by the vintage pieces from her own wardrobe, says the range is made up of "stuff I wear all the time". Items include signature skinny jeans and ribbed vests, funky waistcoats and little shorts. "She's a fashion icon," says Topshop boss Philip Green, "so whatever she did with us had to be true to her, it couldn't just be her name." The mum-of-one personally tried and tested each garment before it went into production and helped model the clothes alongside catwalk star Irina Lazareanu - former drummer with Babyshambles, Kate's boyfriend's band. Such is the interest in anything Kate puts her hand to, the range is also to go on sale at upmarket department store Barneys in New York from May 8.
www.katemosstopshop.com features a look book of the whole collection: the perfect tool for planning what to bag when the range is finally unveiled on 1 May.

Victoria and Albert Museum Focuses on NY Designers
New York Fashion Now
Victoria and Albert Museum, London

In New York Fashion, the companion volume for the exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Sonnet Stanfill argues that it's a diverse, emerging generation of New York designers who will determine our taste for years to come. “Their forte: fashionable, dressy sportswear.” A curator at the V&A, Ms. Stanfill is writing for her fellow Brits, who might feel the need to hop over the pond and use their bargain-buying power.
The historical context is the emergence of the independent American woman: New York’s rise as the fashion epicenter of the mid-20th century can be traced to increasingly liberated women-in college and in the workforce-demanding clothes appropriate to their daily activities. New York fashion, according to Ms. Stanfill, is episodic.
New York Fashion Now captures this significant moment of design productivity, both within the city's mainstream fashion culture and outside it. The twenty featured start-up stories provide insight into how so many young hopefuls have prevailed at this particular moment.

Kimberly Stewart Speaks Out on Size Zero Debate
Kimberley Stewart has given her opinion on the size zero debate.
The daughter of rocker Rod Stewart gave her thoughts on the issue as she posed in revealing underwear for the new Ultimo campaign.
She said that no one should be a size zero unless it is their natural size or feel pressurized to be ‘unhealthily thin.’
The 28 eight year old told the Metro: "I am not an advocate of size zero... All too often we have unrealistic role models. No one should be a size zero unless they are naturally that size."
"When I was younger, I found it hard to put on weight despite eating lots and taking protein drinks and that's fine, but no-one should push themselves to that degree or feel pressure to be unnaturally or unhealthily thin."...FemaleFirst

Conde Nast Portfolio debuts today
OPEN FOR BUSINESS: Today, as the first issue of Conde Nast Portfolio makes its debut on New York newsstands with 332 total pages, 185 of them advertising, one of the most scrutinized - and expensive - magazine launches in history will finally show its cards.
Conde Nast, publisher of magazines like The New Yorker, Vogue and Vanity Fair - will launch its long-awaited, much-hyped business title, Conde Nast Portfolio. Unlike most business magazines, such as Forbes and Fortune, which rely on snappy, analytical stories covering topical news, Portfolio will run long-form features. Furthermore, whereas Forbes and Fortune publish biweekly, Portfolio will appear monthly.

Editor in chief Joanne Lipman sums up the philosophy in her editor's letter: "Business is about power. And guts. And passion. Business coverage should be, too."

Lily Allen Axes 20 US Gigs
HOMESICK Lily Allen has axed 20 US gigs as the pressure to crack the States takes its toll.
The London-born singer's worried management called an emergency meeting with record label EMI on Friday and told them she was too exhausted to continue.
Lily, 21 - who had a hit with Smile- has been anything but happy as she tried to break the lucrative American market.
She was due to crisscross the country promoting her album Alright, Still at gigs including Tucson, Kansas City and Denver.
But virtually all have been cancelled as she struggled with travelling and being away from friends and family.
Things came to a head when Lily saw her music exec boyfriend Seb Chew, 30, for the first time in weeks.
An insider revealed: "She realized she just wanted to be back home."
Before flying out to meet the star in New York, Seb said: "I'm really worried about her."
Lily - daughter of hell-raiser actor Keith - has told fans how she has been "weeping under the duvet".
But her onstage behaviour probably hasn't helped. After downing a few beers she called George Bush an a****** and branded Southern Americans "backwards."...Source: Mirror

Keith Richards: "I snorted my dad"
LONDON, England (AP) -- Keith Richards has acknowledged consuming a raft of illegal substances in his time, but this may top them all.
In comments published Tuesday, the 63-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist said he had snorted his father's ashes mixed with cocaine.
"The strangest thing I've tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father," Richards was quoted as saying by British music magazine NME.
"He was cremated, and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared," he said. "... It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."
"My dad wouldn't have cared, he didn't give a shit. It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."
Richards' father, Bert, died in 2002, at 84.
Richards, one of rock's legendary wild men, told the magazine that his survival was the result of luck, and advised young musicians against trying to emulate him.
"I did it because that was the way I did it. Now people think it's a way of life," he was quoted as saying.
"I've no pretensions about immortality," he added. "I'm the same as everyone ... just kind of lucky.
"I was No. 1 on the 'who's likely to die' list for 10 years. I mean, I was really disappointed when I fell off the list," Richards said.
