Newsflash...Becks Cuts His Hair
London, Mar 30 (ANI): The Beckhams love to be in sync with each other and so they recently sported similar his and hers hairstyles. The couple arrived at the Sport Industry Awards in London with seemingly matching hairdos. While Posh was seen with a stylish blonde bob, short at the back with a long choppy fringe, her husband had a toned-down version with highlights. The pair also wore matching his and her black outfits for the event. Victoria looked stunning in a simple black dress that showed off her skinny frame and golden tan and posed coyly for the cameras. While her husband, the wealthiest footballer in the world, was also decked out in a complimentary black suit and half-hearted cravat. Earlier this month, Victoria's hairdresser Ben Cooke flew out to Los Angeles to create her new slick bob. But it is thought the latest blonde look was due to pressure from new friend Jennifer Lopez. The female stars are said to have become close since Victoria has been spending more time in Los Angeles in preparation for her husband's move to the city's Galaxy football club in the summer.

Diane von Furstenberg Sues Forever 21
Diane von Furstenberg is suing a US retailer under copyright lawyers. The legendary designer is demanding financial compensation and the withdrawal of the 'copycat' designs from Forever 21. Furstenberg, who created the iconic wrap dress, is unhappy with some of the designs in the company's spring/summer 2006 collection. She claims that they are too similar to her own DVF's Cerisier and Aubrey dresses. Legal papers obtained by WWD state: " Without authorisation or license from DVF, Forever 21 has produced and is marketing, advertising, distributing, offering for sale and selling dresses … "Which are nearly identical to DVF's Cerisier and Aubrey dresses that bear print designs identical to the DVF copyrights."

Versace Girl at 63 Pounds
ALLEGRA Versace has been admitted to a Los Angeles hospital for treatment of anorexia, her mom Donatella Versace revealed yesterday, finally confirming what's been rumored for the past decade. The 20-year-old heiress to the fashion empire has been battling the "very serious disease for many years," Donatella said in a statement with Allegra's father, Paul Beck. "She is receiving the best medical care possible to help overcome this illness and is responding well." IT is a curse of the very rich, a sumptuous cage, but a cage nonetheless. The Versaces live their lives of relentless luxury in palazzi of exquisite good taste, privileged, talented - and often deeply miserable. When Donatella Versace revealed yesterday that her daughter Allegra is suffering from anorexia she was simply opening another chapter in the history of this apparently blighted family. Advertisement Allegra, who inherited half her family's £300million fashion empire when her doting uncle was shot dead, has been in the grip of the disease for several years. Even in the high-fashion world of the ultra-thin her weight has been the subject of much speculation since pictures showed her looking dangerously ill and gaunt...The Mirror

They also did a special nine-cover issue of Moss following the cocaine scandal that threatened to destroy her career in September 2005. Creative Director Dennis Freedman once said: "Kate has been our muse-ours and our photographers'-for the simple reason that there are so many aspects to Kate's personality."

L.A. Fashion Week: Ed Hardy
LOVE it!
Earlier in the day, designer Christian Audigier showcased his Ed Hardy line, with the circus as inspiration for his "Love Kills Slowly" collection. The result was a candy-colored assortment of sweat pants, T-shirts, hoodies and leather jackets decked out with classic tattoo designs based on the flash artwork of veteran tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy. "'This is for modern teenagers,"Audigier said in his thick French accent before the show. "It's more a lifestyle than clothes: the colors, the tattoos, the street, the bling-bling. I love it." The circus began with sports announcer Michael Buffer uttering his trademarked phrase: "Let's get ready to rumble!" He announced that porn star Jenna Jamison and former model Janice Dickinson would be judging the show. Both had seats in the front row. Long cardigan sweaters for women were worn belted as minidresses over checkered leggings, and a red men's sweater included fiery tattoo sleeves. Hip-length hoodies embroidered with daggers and eagles were shown alongside T-shirts emblazoned with rhinestone skull-and-crossbones designs. Audigier also debuted a new line of intimate apparel, including a gray panty-and-bra set trimmed with orange ruffles, along with his Ed Hardy collection of boots and sneakers...Associated Press

L.A. Fashion Week: Imitation of Christ
Human bones on the catwalk. Models in dagger-emblazoned silk dresses strutting while talking on cell phones. Bauhaus blaring overhead. Tara Subkoff's Imitation of Christ brought some gothic glitz to L.A. Fashion Week on Monday, with Ed Hardy's tattoo-based casual wear adding to the cool-teen party. Still considered the less mature kid sister of its East Coast counterpart, L.A. Fashion Week this season features 24 shows-trimmed down from last season's 32-showcasing designers' fall 2007 collections. For Subkoff, who has shown her line in New York, being anti-establishment is nothing new. Imitation of Christ crashed the fashion world in 2000 by showing its collection of retooled vintage clothes at a New York City funeral parlor. The celebrity-hip line went on to present eclectic denim and jersey collections, all couched within conceptual, political productions (one show featured half-naked models vacuuming, and another, a backdrop of Iraq war photos). Guests at Subkoff's spring 2007 show were treated to buckets of Budweiser...Associated Press

New Charges Against Anand Jon
A celebrity fashion designer already facing charges in three sexual assaults has been accused of assault by four more people, and prosecutors added 13 new counts Monday. Anand Jon Alexander, 33, has been in jail in lieu of $1.3 million bail since March 6. His arraignment was scheduled for April 4. His attorney, Ronald Richards, has denied the allegations.
The Indian-born designer was arrested at his Beverly Hills apartment after a woman accused him of raping her. Authorities said additional evidence led them to the other suspected victims, including a teenage girl. Along with forcible rape, lewd acts on a child and other felony counts, prosecutors have charged a special circumstance allegation of multiple victims. If convicted, Alexander could face life in prison. Considered an up-and-coming designer, Alexander launched his fashion line in 1999 after graduating from the Parsons School of Design in New York. He has dressed celebrities including Paris Hilton, Michelle Rodriguez and Mary J. Blige...The Associated Press

To Our Friends at VinylMania...The End of an Era
Vinylmania Records Closes Its Doors
The music has stopped at a Manhattan store that kept New Yorkers dancing for nearly 30 years. In the 70's, Vinylmania stores lined Carmine Street in the West Village. But on Saturday, the only one left closed its doors. Known as a domain for DJ's, party goers came to say goodbye to a music industry mecca. "We affected a lot of people's lives and I can safely say that a lot record collections that still exist in New York City were built out of this store," said store owner Charlie Grappone. "I think it's like the end of an era. I think that when vinyl first came into play this store just took off," said customer Doris Palazzo. "And as times changed, the record industry changed, and really I'm happy for them but I'm sad that it's ended." Vinylmania first opened in 1978. ...NY1

Naomi Making Reflective Orange Stylish?
Naomi Campbell is ditching her trademark style as she starts her community service - and worse, she clocks on at 8am. The supermodel is swapping her Manolos for a mop as she begins five days at New York's sanitation department as punishment for hitting her maid on the head with a mobile phone. The catwalk star has been allowed to do her cleaning duties behind closed doors to avoid the media scrum that surrounded Boy George when he swept the city's streets in the summer. But she will still have to walk in from the road in full view of the cameras. Once inside, Naomi, who was sentenced for hurling a mobile phone said to have been a jewel-encrusted BlackBerry which bashed housekeeper Anna Scolavino on the head, will be issued with an orange reflector vest and a pair of work gloves. She is free to choose the rest of her outfit but sanitation department deputy chief Albert Durrell has advised the 36-year-old that jeans and trainers would be best. Glamorous footwear by the likes of Manolo Blahnik was not a good idea, he added, and she should also wear a baseball cap or bandanna to protect her hair. The Streatham-born beauty, who will also have to surrender her BlackBerry and mobile while she is working, has reportedly pledged to auction off her cleaning clothes to raise money for Nelson Mandela-s charity. Naomi pleaded guilty in January to a misdemeanour charge of reckless assault.

Film-Star Fashion Week Explodes on L.A.'s Indie Catwalks
HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 3/18/07 - On the eve of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, rebel fashion folks flocked to Kitten Fashion Week and BOXeight Saturday night for a slew of alternative shows. The hip Standard Downtown Hotel played host to newbie designers like Lorun and Battalion, along with the always popular KushCush. A few blocks down, the restored Los Angeles Theatre teemed with L.A.'s trendiest for a peek at the Eduardo Lucero Fall 2007 Collection, presented by BOXeight. But Los Angeles, above all else, is a company town for film & television -a fact inescapable for designers who call sunny California home. Eye-catching, paparazzi perfect gowns slinked down the catwalk at Eduardo Lucero. The designer is fast becoming a favorite with red carpet starlets in need of a gown that unites sex appeal with cutting-edge chic. The show paid homage to the insanity of a film premier, with the audience on bleachers hooting and hollering, and the models energetically (yes, with emotion and all!) posing for eager photographers. The Saturday night, laid back mood made for a rowdy, engaged group of spectators dappled with famous faces: front row sat Tia and Tamara Mowry and Ugly Betty star Ana Oritz. Even the clothes themselves had energy: highlights included reflective sequins, light-catching metallics, and even LCD screen accessories....Hollywood Today

Beth Ditto Strips at SXSW
Beth Ditto shocked audiences at South By Southwest yesterday (March 15), by stripping mid-way through The Gossip's set. The singer, who called herself "an ugly, fat bitch" last week, started the strip by taking off her long black wig and throwing it into the crowd. Shortly afterwards, she tore off her blue dress to reveal her animated stomach, wearing only black underwear. Aside form the spectacle, the trio played a fervently received set that, of course, featured the omnipresent 'Standing In The Way Of Control' and a cover of Tina Turner's 'What's Love Got To Do With It?' Another act that played a noteworthy set at SXSW yesterday was Queens of the Stone Age who debuted material from their new album....FestivalWise

Fears of Elton John Turning Tobago Gay?
CHURCH leaders want Sir Elton John banned from Tobago - in case he turns the locals gay. He is due to headline the Plymouth jazz festival there next month. But Philip Isaac, the Archdeacon of Trinidad and Tobago, believes the singer could tempt the islanders into gay ways. He said: "His visit to the island can open the country to be tempted towards pursuing his lifestyle." The Archdeacon condemned Sir Elton's marriage to David Furnish, saying it doesn't conform to "biblical teachings" because a "man should not lie with a man". And he wants to save the star, 59. Mr Isaac said: "The artist is one of God's children and while his lifestyle is questionable he needs to be ministered unto." Homophobic campaigners claimed that a clause in Tobago's immigration laws means homosexuals could be kept out of the country. The local radio station has been bombarded with calls opposing his visit....The Mirror

Weinstein Brothers Aquire Halston
Hollywood producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein are branching out into fashion after acquiring top style label Halston. The fashion house is best known for dressing the international jet set during the 1960s and 1970s. "Two years ago, when my brother and I started The Weinstein Company, one key component we were talking about to the investors about was finding a name brand to acquire to diversify our company," says Harvey Weinstein. "This partnership will further the natural connection between the adjacent worlds of entertainment and fashion." Harvey denies reports his girlfriend, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, will be coming on board to run Halston, jokingly adding: "Her attitude is, 'I'm staying with Marchesa, and you're the last person I'd ever work for." Jimmy Choo founder and president Tamara Mellon will be brought on board to help structure management and provide creative direction for the brand. The filmmakers are also considering making a documentary on the life of the company’s founder, Ray Halston Frowick...source: Jewtastic.com

Fashion Designer Anand Jon Charged with Sexual Assault
For almost three years, fashion designer Anand Jon has allegedly been forcing women into sexual acts against their will. Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, said Jon was charged with six felonies and one misdemeanor for alleged sexual assaults between October 2004 and March 5. Now, the shameful human being is going to face the consequences of his crimes and is currently being charged with two counts of forcible rape, sexual battery by restraint, attempted forcible oral copulation and two counts of committing a lewd act upon a child. TMZ reports that Jon is at the Los Angeles County jail and is expected in court on April 4. His bail is set at more than $1 million. According to AP, Ronald Richards, Jon's attorney, claims his client is innocent, saying, "He absolutely contends he didn't break any laws with respect to the contact he had with these women."
Richards also added his own little spin by placing the blame on the women, whom he says are just looking to ruin Jon's reputation and get him into trouble. He added, "When you have people desperate to be in fashion, they get upset when you don't place them where they want to be. When you deal with a large amount of women, you're going to have potential false allegations made against you." WHAT??? Looks like Anand needs a new attorney.
An immigration hold has also been placed on the designer as authorities investigate whether or not he is in the country legally. The Indian designer is a close friend of Paris Hilton and other celebrities. He was named the "Next Thing In 2007" by Newsweek, who also included him in their "Power & Influence" list a few years ago....source: AHN

Ralph Lauren Receives First Ever "Legend" Award
By Associated Press SAMANTHA CRITCHELL Updated: 3/13/2007 NEW YORK
The Council of Fashion Designers of America will bestow its first-ever title of Fashion Legend to Ralph Lauren at its 25th annual awards ceremony in June. The honor coincides with Lauren's 40th anniversary in the industry.
"No one deserves it more,'" said council president Diane von Furstenberg as she announced a list of honorary award winners at a cocktail reception at Rockefeller Center Monday night. The council added in a statement: "His vision and innovation epitomizes American design excellence and continues to set the standard in fashion.'" Emphasizing that Lauren is still a driving force, he is nominated in a competitive category, too. He is up against Italo Zucchelli for Calvin Klein, and Steven Cox and Daniel Silver for Duckie Brown as menswear designer of the year. He's been nominated for the men's award for the past six years but he last won in 1996. In 1995, he was womenswear designer of the year. This year's top choices for womenswear designer are Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler and Marc Jacobs. Jacobs was also nominated in the accessories category with Michael Kors and Derek Lam. Jacobs' nominations came on a day that it was confirmed the designer had entered rehab. U2 frontman and globe-trotting humanitarian Bono will receive the Board of Directors Special Tribute. Bono does indeed have ties to the fashion world, he helped his wife Ali Hewson and designer Rogan Gregory launch the collection Edun, which manufacturers its apparel in developing countries. In the emerging talent categories, Phillip Lim, Kate and Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte, and Thakoon Panichgul were singled out for womenswear; Michael Bastian, Tim Hamilton, and David Neville and Marcus Wainwright for Rag & Bone for menswear; and Justin Giunta for Subversive, Jessie Randall for Loeffler Randall and Anna Sheffield for Bing Bang for accessories. The winners receive Swarovski Awards that include financial support from the crystal company. The lifetime achievement award, which will now be called the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Award to honor what von Furstenberg called Beene's "American excellency'" and a $5 million gift from the late designer's estate, goes to Robert Lee Morris. It's the first time this honor was being given to an accessories designer. This year's international award will go to Frenchman Pierre Cardin, Pulitzer Prize winner Robin Givhan will get the Eugenia Sheppard Award for journalism and the Eleanor Lambert award, which honors the broad category of "imagemakers," will be given to photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The nominations are determined by anonymous ballots from fashion editors and writers, retailers, stylists and other designers. The awards ceremony, which usually attracts many Hollywood celebrities as presenters, is slated for June 4 at the New York Public Library. Copyright 2007 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Marc Jacobs to Rehab
Phoenix, AZ (AHN) - Hollywood must feel like an empty place as stars are leaving the bright lights almost daily and heading for rehab. Chic designer Marc Jacobs is the latest celeb to enter a treatment facility for drug and alcohol addiction. The Louis Vuitton designer, who has just finished showcasing his fall 2007 for the French fashion house as well as his own label, has reportedly relapsed after seven years of sobriety. After flying between Paris and New York for the hectic runway season, Jacobs has checked himself into a rehab center in Arizona. The designer's business partner, Robert Duffy, applauded Jacobs' decision, saying, "Marc made the right decision... When he relapsed, he wanted to deal with it right away. According to the experts, such a relapse isn't uncommon. Thankfully, Marc recognized the problem himself and chose to deal with it. Obviously, our prayers are with him."

Liz Hurley Belly Dances for Wedding Guests
Liz Hurley's wedding week took a turn for the bizarre yesterday when she took to the stage and performed a belly dance for guests. As if we hadn't seen enough of her already, the star, 41, decided to provide her own entertainment at yet another wedding party, by stripping down to a silver bra and dancing in front of 300 party-goers at the Naugur Fort in Rajasthan. On stage - we kid you not - she was joined by Janet-Street Porter, Trinny Woodall and Tamara Beckwith to cheers from the crowd. Outside the fort, crowds hoping to catch a glimpse of the glamourous couple had to be beaten back by police with sticks. It marked the penultimate day in the couple's marathon 42 day wedding celebrations, which culminate in Arun Nayar, 42, riding through the streets of Jodphur on a white horse, followed by a procession of camels, elephants and priests blowing horns made of conch shells.

Jackson Charging $3,500 for 30 Seconds

A relaxed-looking Michael Jackson smiled and waved at screaming fans as he arrived in Japan on Sunday for his second visit in recent years to host an exclusive party and sponsor a fan art competition. Jackson made his first official foray back into the spotlight after his acquittal on child molestation charges in June 2005 with an appearance in Tokyo to accept an MTV Japan award last year. Jackson, in trademark sun glasses and black leather jacket, was ushered by guards past hundreds of screaming Japanese fans at Narita Airport on Sunday afternoon, some carrying signs that read "We love Michael" and "Welcome to Japan." At the VIP party, guests paying $3,500 will get to mingle with Jackson and spend 30 seconds to one minute each of exclusive face time with the Gloved One, according to organizers. Theyskens offers a first show for Nina Ricci
The trees of the Tuileries gardens, an evanescent mist and an arching spring sky were the backdrop on Sunday to Olivier Theyskens's first show for Nina Ricci. And that perfectly expressed the mood of the Belgian designer, who was a fresh breeze of change for the house. Feathers woven into the models' loose hair, outfits that twisted across the body as if blown by a gentle wind and a sense that ultralight dresses were evaporating at the hemline were all expressions of Theyskens's poetic romanticism. "Nonchalance -I wanted it modern and fragile for the young Ricci girl," the designer said backstage as he faced the transition from the now-shuttered house of Rochas to his new nest...IHT

Tips on Snagging Quality Vintage Online

Finding good vintage fashion items isn't nearly as simple as it might seem. There's always eBay, but for less-savy shoppers, that Web site can be surprisingly tricky to navigate. "Vintage" has become such a buzzword that unless you know exactly what you are looking for, you can spend hours scrolling through pages of spanking-new "vintage inspired" geegaws - and end up with something you could have bought at Target for a lot less. That in mind, eBay's staggering selection certainly makes it worth a stop. Here are a few other good sites. Many women find handbags easier to buy online than clothes, and the Bag Lady Emporium has hundreds of bags at a wide range of prices. The site stocks almost any style you can imagine and some you probably didn't know existed. Top picks include tidy stamped-leather satchels, mod Lucite cases and fanciful beaded clutches from the 1920s. Enokiworld carries tough-to-find designer clothes by the likes of Stephen Sprouse, Ossie Clark and Zandra Rhodes, plus bags and shoes from such pricey purveyors as Hermes, Gucci and Bottega Veneta. The offerings may be limited, but fashion insiders are likely to covet every piece. Fashiondig is an easy-to-navigate site that peddles clothing and accessories from vintage dealers across the country. You can search by item, designer, dealer or decade, and prices are generally reasonable: Even Victorian silk jackets and art deco necklaces are often available for less than $100. If you're serious about vintage, visit Vintage Textile. Its impressive array of collector-grade pieces dates to the 18th century, including Colonial-era gowns crafted from silk damask and dazzling hand-beaded flapper dresses. Yes, prices are astronomical, but there's vintage and then there's vintage. Glimpsing the latter from time to time can be truly inspiring, no matter what your budget....by Wire Reports
