The trees of the Tuileries gardens, an evanescent mist and an arching spring sky were the backdrop on Sunday to Olivier Theyskens's first show for Nina Ricci. And that perfectly expressed the mood of the Belgian designer, who was a fresh breeze of change for the house.
Feathers woven into the models' loose hair, outfits that twisted across the body as if blown by a gentle wind and a sense that ultralight dresses were evaporating at the hemline were all expressions of Theyskens's poetic romanticism.
"Nonchalance -I wanted it modern and fragile for the young Ricci girl," the designer said backstage as he faced the transition from the now-shuttered house of Rochas to his new nest...IHT
