Yes, we are a fashion site. Yes, we are New Yorkers.
Yes, we last spoke during THE busiest week of fashion in New York. We get it...and are apologizing...
We last left you during Fashion Week and a cold freeze. With temps dipping below zero (this includes the ever dramatic 'wind chill factor' reaching negative 20) and our studio running into some near heating disasters we opted to put on a hat & scarf and run for cover to the nearest hotel rather than write in our blog. We wanted to write. We even tried to write...really hard. The hotel internet service, however fancy with their plasma screens throughout the lobby, limited guests to ten minutes per session. This was not sufficient for our needs.
Instead, I ordered room service thinking about everything I was missing by being blocked from the world wide web. Okay, that's a discussion for another day because it only lead to me ordering a bottle of wine (following my chicken Caesar salad and Oreo cheesecake lunch) and wondering the (very expected) question of "what did we all do before being plugged in"?
It's odd being a local in a tourist hotel. I made a lot of new friends, which tends to happen when I travel, but rarely happens when I venture out of my neighborhood by only a mile.
Okay, so that's done and I MUST pack for Vegas. I'm leaving for the Pool Trade Show at MAGIC in two days. Tomorrow night is the Lily Allen show, which I am very much looking forward to and very much hoping that I am not the "old girl in the club" when walking in. Lily is brilliant - LOVE her! She is sure to hate this, but she's like a punk Annette Funicello. Annette style + punk + talent = Lily.
Show was brilliant! If you see Lily coming soon to a theatre near you, we highly recommend grabbing some tickets.
Next morning, way too early, off to Vegas on the 9am flight. Car shows up on time, which kind of sucks at the moment, but good thing in the end.
Show, show, show.......we have eight lines this show, our fourth, and are expecting to be overwhelmed. The show has moved this season and is now located outside the LVCC at MAGIC. Previous years have been at the Mandalay Bay - which really spoiled us with their services. A full food court at lunch offering unlimited dining choices (made booth staff very happy).
Pool offered the most amazing port-a-potties anyone reading this has ever seen. I guarantee it. They were sponsored by Kohler. We have zero connection to them and are by no means attempting to endorse a toilet manufacturer on our blog, I'm just saying...if you ever find yourself at a show an you notice a "Kohler" sign above the blue plastic toilet teetering on it's edge, go check it out. If you've ever lived in an NYC apartment you will find Kohler portable toilets nicer than any toilet offered in a $3k/month apartment you've ever rented.
The show was a success. We are now following up with confirmed orders, leads and contacts made at the show. However,.....those who know me - know that my stories always end with a "however"....my left wrist is either sprained or broken, the doctor isn't sure yet. Apparently I won't have an answer until Tuesday.
It was a bit rough lugging all my crap down to the cab from my hotel room. I know you're asking, "What about the bell caps"? Well, my friends, this hotel was so overloaded with the fashion groups leaving and the NBA All-Star groups arriving that the bell caps were nowhere in sight when I grabbed my bags.Short story long....sore wrist when putting bags in cab to McCarran...motionless, swollen wrist when landing in NYC with no movement of fingers.
Moral of the story...I apologize.
I have written this whole story to you with a contraption on my wrist that is so encumbering I can't brush my own teeth, yet I am writing to YOU!
And now that you see how long my stories are, you see why I link the important stories. Just enough to keep you informed, yet enough info to hopefully lure you back for more true fashion stories, not just gossip.
